Does anyone have any advice on how to determine the correct wiring position to the 8 leads on the headlight switch? The factory harness plug has been removed and now its an 8 wire guessing game. I think there are 40000 possibilities. Perhaps someone can snap a good clear pic of their plug and by some miracle, I might have the same colored wires. The only thing I know for sure is that I have 2 wires that are hot and one is hotter than the other. ANY ADVICE, PLEASE!!
Good luck, I tried for 3 months to find the wiring diagram for the ignition switch for my 66, finally got lucky and found a wrecked 64 with the ignition switch pigtail still intact!
Sorry, bout only help I may able to provide is copy of the circuit from the wiring manual, color codes may not be correct but possibly provide indication of wires general direction.
I have been working on some wiring issues as well on my 64. I found a place that had the entire wiring diagram that can be downloaded.... it is a pretty big file so I can't post it, but here is the link:
I just tried to start my "new" '66 F100 and fried a wire that runs from Alt. to Volt Reg. I figure that shoot I'll just go to Painless for a new harness. Well they don't have one for a '66, so I figure that since a 'stang has same diagram I could get that. Might need to 'stretch' a couple of wires.
DANG! they want $570 for JUST a harness???? No new alt. or starter or switches. Just wires and a fuse block.
Well looks like I pull apart the insulation and do it the hard way.
I bought the EZ-Wire Kit with 18 Circuits for $200.00 go to Golden RODtronics | For All Your Electronic Needs, and talk to Dave he will set you up with a EZ-wire kit that has the wires marked every 6 inches with what they are. Really easy to install, and no a bad price. He also has a 12 circuit one for a little less.

Thanks! Wasn't so much the price per say, except my 'ready' money is going to a new comp. To my mind I would prefer redoing all the wires instead of ending up with miles of black tape "bandages".
Purchased set of reproduction harnesses few years ago for the 65 from Mr. Mustang, Inc., same connectors and wire codes, matter of unplugging the old and plug in the new. Can be expensive; taillight, headlight harness run about $100 ea., the engine harness runs around $50; unfortunately have not found anyone who reproduces the dash harness. Understand few of the Ford part suppliers also carry them, have not priced them. If decide on 'do it yourselfer' suggest using electrical harness wrap, it's non adhesive and does'nt gum up the wiring. Used small plastic ties when I replaced, or repaired wires on the dash harness on the 65, found it easier to keep track of wires.
