Build Progress Pictures
I got this truck in February, and have steadily been going through it.
I pulled the bed off in order to repair some cross members that had been torched.
While the bed was off, I wanted to do a few other things, including the urethane body mount bushings.
The whole project kind of snowballed on me a little bit
Because I had the bed off, I figured it would be foolish not to install the hitch I was planning on. This is a Curt Class IV unit. You can kind of see the black fogged aeas in the front bed cross member here. I patched the holes that a previous owner had torched (for no known reason).
New driveshafts (front and rear). The intermediate shaft was in a good shape, and had new spicer joints already.
When I got the truck the side toolbox door was wired shut, and the latch was locked. There was no tube our mounting bracket. I acquired the tub and art of a mounting bracket (I welded some L brackets onto it), had a key made for the latch, and installed everything with new hardware (currently waiting on my Dennis Carpenter seal).
My 205 was leaking, and the rear output had some fore and aft motion. I pulled the case for a rebuild since I had the shafts out. I have a master rebuild kit, new poly mounts, and new mounting bracket hardware (grade 8).
Here is the case after I took it all apart. There was no significant wear, so I think a bearing change, and reseal should fix it up. I sandblasted and primed the case yesterday (with red oxide primer). Going to media blast and paint the yokes, bearing retainers, and pto cover black. The transfer case will be the nicest part of the truck when I'm done...
I don't have pictures, but I installed new Dennis Carpenter door seals and sill plates. I have a new carpet and kick panels to install as well. I painted the tank when I had it out to access the cab mounts.
I installed a new brake booster, and I have a new master cylinder, as those mysteriously started leaking when I started taking the truck apart.
I have correct engine tins to install as well, after the master cylinder is replaced, and I just ordered all the windshield washer equipment as my stuff was all MIA.
More pictures when I make some more progress.
Its really hard for me not to go completely off the deep end with this truck. I bought it intending to do king pin bearings and front shock bushings, but that quickly went wild. My dad keeps telling me I should take it all apart and do a full on restoration; I love the idea, but I really wanted to take some time to use and enjoy the truck before it gets to that point.

I have some updates on the truck, and a couple pictures of my newly rebuild NP205. When I bought my truck, I spent significant time inspecting the undercarriage, etc, to make sure it was "the one". I noticed all of the shafts had new u joints, so I assumed the drivetrain was in good shape.
When I powerwashed the undercarriage this spring, I noticed that the front shaft was dented, and the front yoke had been popcorn welded on. The slip union was also entirely spent. Upon even further investigation, the rear output on the case had significant end play, and the rear shafts slip union had also seen better days.
So I had new shafts made (all 3), and rebuilt the case, primarily to eliminate the output "walk".
The color isn't perfect, but I am happy with it.
All new bearings, seals, thrust washers (that fixed the output end play), gaskets, etc.
I also did new poly mounts, and grade 8 mounting hardware. The case and shafts are going back in this week. I will get the bed and rear bumper back on, and then its just the carpet, seat going back in, and a new master cylinder. Then its on to my under hood freshen up.
