Help me decipher my engine

I know that this is not the original engine in my 1974 F100......

Can anyone help me figure this out?

This is the sticker on the valve cover which is identical to the one on the oil pan.

Dunno. The decal doesn't appear to have that information.

We can start to narrow this down by counting the bolts on the valve cover:
2 bolts: 239/256/272/292/312 (produced from 1954 to 1964)
5 bolts: 332/352/360/361/390/391/406/410/427/428 (FE engine)
6 bolts: 221/260/289/302/351W
7 bolts: 429/460
8 bolts: 351C/351M/400

Am I reading this to mean that the "B" indicates that I have a 1971 engine?

More likely '81 I'd think, if the K indicates thermactor (cats), assuming that coding is valid for the new decade.

It has a thermactor choke, the heat stove exhaust manifold system.

A hot-air choke is not the "thermactor" - thermactor was Ford's name for oxidation catalysts, and the associated air pump ("smog pump" in the terms of may around here) was the "thermactor air injection system".

However, other details of that decoding document indicate that the calendar year should be on there (which it isn't), etc. so it's possible the letters coded differently in different years.

What are the values in the green box ? Those calibration values can give you the year also .. For example here you would search C62G-R0 ..
