2015 Information Display DTE calculation error?
DTE normal 719
DTE tow 681 <-- less than normal mode, seems right to me it should be less for towing
DTE normal 730 <-- normal mode changed, wtf?
DTE tow 681
DTE normal 730
I wouldn't use DTE to know when to fill up in any case. For that I use the "gallons used" in Trip 1 meter which I reset every time I fill up.
I did that for years in my last F350 and literally never looked at the fuel gauge. If you know how far off the "gallons used" is over a tank (and in my case it always indicated less used than actual used), you can pretty much tell to the ounce how much you have left.
Also, as an experiment, I ran DTE down to 0 to see what would happen since I knew I had fuel left. And what happened was nothing. It just sat on 0.
I use DTE like a video game to keep me entertained while driving. I add trip miles + DTE and that is High Score. So far on this F150 my high score is 768. I think I can get that into the 800s
So, my guess from that limited observation is that the DTE calc uses the average to-date MPG for the tow/haul mode in the transmission to generate the "tow" distance. And, it uses the to-date indicated MPG from the "normal" mode of the transmission, and perhaps including Sport mode" to generate the other distance.
If that's true, then using the tow/haul mode of the transmission when you aren't actually towing or hauling can significantly mess up the DTE calculation.
EDIT: i did forget to mention that the fuel gauge is reading full the only thing that if is off or has an issue is the DTE reading as far as i can tell

You dredged up and old thread and you seem to have a problem that's not related to those who want precise calculations on their fuel mileage/DTE readings. Also, you have a Super Duty, which has a somewhat different electrical system. I would suggest that you go to the 1999-2016 Super Duty forum, which can be found on the main forum page, then make a new thread there.
Here's a link to that forum.
