C6 speedo gear replacement

Alright guys, been so busy and it's been forever some I've been on here. My '83 needs speedometer work. I have a new cable and I know what plastic driven gear I need for the end of the cable. My hope was that someone could clarify for me what the process is for replacing the drive gear inside the transfer case and tell me what the gear I need to replace looks like generally so I have a rough idea of what I'm ordering is correct. It's my daily so I can't afford any downtime and need to be able to do it all in one shot. I'm not sure of my model transfer case off the top of my head, but it's a two piece case. The rear driveshaft yoke comes right out of the back half of the case, there's no third piece which is bolted there to extend the case... Sorry I don't have a better description or know the model, but if memory serves me right the ID tag isn't present on the case. Thanks in advance for any help, Russell
