I can't remember the link, I tried searching...something about if there isn't enough electrical draw the magnetic clutch might not engage. Not sure if it was idle speed, low alternator output, or what
And it only takes a few moments to try it
(If someone can find the link or remember the details, please throw them in here? )
...There is a mod on here that will make it even colder using a ford ranger heater valve. I have not done it but many have sworn by it...
I did that mod about six or seven years ago and it still working great. This mod provides colder a/c in my truck than in any other vehicle I've ever driven. Check out my signature for the details. I did what is called Option #3 - Max A/C Only as stated in the instructions. By tapping into the white vacuum line to run the shut-off valve, the heater core is disconnected only when Max A/C and Off are selected. This method provides icy chilled air without affecting the system's defrosting capabilities when I need little heat to dry things out early in the morning.
