Coldstart noises
hey Folks,
my van (E250,330cui,97') make some noise while cold starting. i takes about 5 seconds and becomes more silent with every second. Sound like a metallic knocking,or hitting.
i guess it deals with the oil pressure, so i thought about hydraulic valve lifter, but the noise is too loud. now believing in the hydro chain tightener.
someone has some experience with or another idea?
maybe some explosive drawings?

You can also post this in the V8 Modular Motors forum---technically your engine is called a 5.4 liter V8.
The knock could be a loose rod bearing at the crankshaft or it can be the oil-pressure fed timing chain tensioning devices. Ask in that other forum for typically quick and very knowledgeable replies.
