This is not your ordinary issue. 1st I had the light on all the time. Replaced speaker-light goes off. System does not work. Replaced all 4 sensors-the 2 inside ones work the 2 outside do not. I have replaced all the sensors twice, the PAM, the switch and put in a new wiring harness--same problem. I have gotten down to testing by the manual with a volt meter. I cannot get any resistance out of pin 9 on the cable connector which is supposed to be a ground. The manual says "refer to module communications network" which I see NOWHERE! EXCUSE ME!!!!!!!! My new Auto Enginuity expanded function OBD reader sends back "No response from module" when testing the parking aid circuit. Every component in the system checks out so my issue is somewhere in the wiring going to the PAM (I guess) especially since the scanner can't even read it (Enhanced version AE Scanner)Outside of putting in a camera backup system, anyone got any ideas??? The gauntlet has been thrown down for months and my face and wallet have been slapped unceasingly. This is a real bass turd!!
I have issues with mine too, so I know how frustrating it is. I haven't looked into fixing mine and don't have much insight, but wanted ask about something you said. You said don't have resistance between pin 9 and ground, if so, this would be a good thing. I think you meant you don't have continuity between pin 9 and ground?

This got in my btain to the point I couldnt sleep last night. Pin 9 is voltage of greater than 10 which mine was ok. Pin 1 is also voltage. Pin 3--if it has a resistance < to 5 then to "Refer to module communications network". If > or = 5 ohms, then repair circuit 57. Mine reads 1 ohm when I turn it on, touch probes--.03, piece of copper wire--.5. Pin 3 never moved the meter from 1 and it didn't beep sounding continuity. I'm not an expert with volt meters by any means but I figure since it didn't change at all that put me in the "Refer" category
Right based on what you said that's what it sounds like. So apparently the module has tolerance up to 5 ohms. So you've got continuity with you 1 ohm reading. 1 ohm on a wire still isn't great unless it's a very long wire

If AE cannot communicate with the PAM, I would make that problem #1. Corrosion in the connectors, broken wires or a bad ground come to mind, especially since you've already replaced the PAM. I would focus on that first - without being able to communicate with the PAM, trying to diagnose the sensors or the sensor wiring harness would be a female dog situation.
When my speaker was acting up, AE never had a problem talking to the PAM, but, I didn't get any codes until the speaker failed for good.

I am hoping the wiring runs under the door sills. This is a NY vehicle so most of the rust has been on the rt side--I guess when they plow the snow gets pushed to the right and then melts--just a guess. Everything from the Pam to the sensors is good. I too think it is a ground wire---the where is the problem. Idid replace that woven wire ground from the body to the frame as it had rusted in 1/2. I used a copper wire but I don't think that would cause a problem--that should be just grounding the body. The search continues
I found some aftermarket wiring where it looks liking something had been mounted in the cubby hole. Its the strip-a-wire and solder connection. I guess the green wire is the hot to the ignition. I guess the other would have to be a ground. I have to order a double din tool to take out the radio and see what I can see. Goes awfully close to the Park Assist switch. Any ideas? I guess those black deals are for fuses??? Ive seen them before but never used them.
My PA light never came on and stayed on until the speaker completely failed. It would flicker occasionally. In fact, when I was backing up and something was behind me, it would start flashing like crazy. A few days of this and the speaker started working for about a week. Then one day, I went out to go to work and the PA light came on and stayed on. Hooked AE up and got a PA Sounder Circuit fault. Swapped the speaker and it's been working ever since.
Watcher58 - what size copper wire did you use to replace the woven one? I've heard Fords are really sensitive to their grounds, and one that isn't the right type or size might contribute to the problem. I've never had the displeasure of have to trace an electrical gremlin like this (though I have had to with an engine ground) so I can't speak from experience...

I used about a 12 guage piece of wire. What was there before was like a steel wool woven strap.
