I have no voltage at pin #6 on the DLC, and no resistance between #6-#14. Can anyone tell me where the wire for #6 goes once it enters the harness under the dash, or where the next easiest place is to check for voltage along that wire? It's the can bus high.
Truck has no issues, just can't use scan tools. 2003 F-350 6.0
thanks.
Hi, [left]I have no voltage at pin #6 on the DLC, and no resistance between #6-#14.
Both 6 & 14 are the CAN Bus terminals and shouldn't have "power". Pin 16 (bottom row, all the way to the right) is the +12v power terminal with 4 & 5 being ground.
Thanks for the help guys. It's my understanding that pin 6 and 14 should show approximately 3.5 and 2.5 volts respectively. I measured the resistance at the pcm between pin's 13-14 and got 120 ohms, which I think means that I have a module issue? should show 60 ohms. Perhaps the cluster module has an issue and also isn't allowing the communication to carry on past the cluster to the DLC?
Follow the tests above, they're straight out of the factory service manual.
BTW, you did check pin 16 of the DLC for battery power, didn't you? Most scan tools, unless they have their own power source, won't work without vehicle power being supplied.
