Tranny temp same as Coolant?

This is the only 6.0 I have owned. My tranny temp (with the Torque Pro) is pretty much always the same as my ECT. My ECT will move, and less than 2 seconds later, the tranny will move to the same temp. Is this normal? I was expecting lower tranny temps, but maybe it should be the same because of sharing the radiator. Thoughts?

Mine runs 160-170. Check the PID and these are OK to about 220.

You're right to be suspicious. Either the trans is running warmer than it should or the gauge is off for some reason.

Doesn't the TorquePro report two different transmission temps (I believe it does)?. If so, which are you watching?

I used the other one at first but it did not show any temp. This one has always ran the same as coolant. The dash gauge has never been past the middle either.

I get actual numbers from both PIDS in my TorquePro app. One is the same as what I get from the DashDAQ (around 165 as stated above), and the other is noticeably higher. I will look at it tomorrow to see if it tracks coolant temps.

Torque has 2 different Trans fluid temps. (method 1 and method 2) One is bogus and tracks the coolant temp exactly. OBD2 Header as AUTO. Method 2 is the one to use. That one Has the OB2 Header as TCM which is Transmission Control Module.. imagine that!

Screenshot from my PID editor.

Yea, that works much better. Highest was 150.5 coming into work 16 miles. The Torque Pro has 4 tranny temps:

1. Transmission Fluid Temp (Method 1)
2. Transmission Fluid Temp (Method 2)
3. Transmission Temperature (Method 1)
4. Transmission Temperature (Method 2)

Numbers 1 and 3 don't show any values on mine. Number 2 pretty much follows the coolant. Number 4 is the winner!

Thanks Guys!

yeah I remember being more of them now. I have selected the setting "Hide unsupported sensors" on mine so I don't see those 2 anymore. glad you got it working.
