I have an 87 F-350 4 Door that I want to put a standard or ext cab on - What is involved??
Can I use a cab from a gasser? (my 4 door is a diesel).
Do the fenders and front clip come with it or can I just change the cab??
Going to a shorter cab will I need to make brackets for it or can I move the existing ones??
Is it a big deal if the cab is for an automatic and my 4 door is a 5 speed?
I'm guessing the donor cab can be from a 150 or 250 as well as a 350??
I want to put a dump bed on the 350 and would like to make it a longer bed with a shorter cab. I would prefer to make it an extended cab as I can use the back seat area for tool storage.
Pull the front clip first, not difficult at all. You can re-use it. To simplify the swap get yourself an 87-91 Super Cab to swap. That will make the wiring swap easier since the bulkhead connectors will be the same size. IIRC the 92-96/7 had different holes. Someone correct me there if I'm wrong. The front cab mounts should be the same but I cannot say how you'll need to mount the cab rear. I think the trans tunnel is the same, only the cover plate different and you can use your old one.
