Bought 95 extended drw F350 couple of years ago and just use for pulling camper. Had straight pipes with cat first year and drove maybe 500 miles. Replaced exhaust with stock duals and now it's camp ground quiet but I can hear it pinging. Going to get it out tomorrow if it doesn't rain and check timing. 87 octane around here and I use the ethanol free due to storing it most of the time. This thing has been a pita since I bought it, brakes transmission, too rough for the other half and performance wise hasn't lived up to my expectations. Any ideas for the timing setting?
I would look for vacuum leaks and make sure the coolant temp isn't to high. Also Real gas is more prone to spark knock than E-10. But I agree if truck is of low use then E-10 should be avoided.
