York A/C Compressor Bracket

Hi all, just recently found a complete aftermarket A/C system from a '68 F 250 in the local Pick-a-Part.

Problem I am having is, there was no engine in the truck, and the bracket that was attached to the York compressor does not seem able to be bolted the the 302 that is in my '70 F 250.

So, was wondering if anyone may have a picture of a York A/C bracket that would fit a 1970 302, so perhaps I would have an idea of what to look for at Pick-a-Part, of if someone would know if any York style bracket that was on an similar era 302, car or truck, would indeed fit on my '70 F 250 with a 302.

I do have a picture of what I do have, and will attempt to post it....perhaps if it is of no use to me, someone else may have use for it.

Not authorized to add pictures here, so they are on page 2 of "My Garage". 2 pics of when I picked it up, 2 pics of just the bracket cleaned up.

Thanks.

Are you sure it's an aftermarket A/C?

No F250 came with a 302 until 1980. 1968/72 F250 would have come w/a 240 or 300 I-6, or a 360 or 390 (2WD) V8.

1968/72 F100/350: 3 different types of Ford A/C, all are "hang-on" units, as their bezels bolt to the bottom of the dash.

1) Factory installed integral A/C is combined with the heater. The A/C controls are located in the same panel as the heater controls.

The A/C's expansion valve is located behind the glove box, so its liner is shorter. There's another glove box located within the bezel.

2) Deluxe dealer installed A/C bezel stretches across the entire underside of the dash, the two A/C switches are located in its bezel.

3) Economy dealer installed A/C bezel located under the center of the dash, its two A/C switches are located in its bezel.

Note: Both Tecumseh & York compressors were used in these trucks. Dealer installed A/C used a different compressor, mounting bracket and etc. mounting parts than factory A/C.

Thanks Bill, the unit I purchased would be the smaller type, that just below the center of the dashboard on 2 hangers, and has its own built in switches.

Thank for clarifying that, I guess I will just look around the junkyard at different cars and trucks with a 302 and hopefully find something that will bolt on.

Upper pic: Dealer installed "Economy" A/C bezel and related parts.

Lower Pic: "Mount & Drive" engine compartment parts. Caption should read 1969/72 F100 302 (302 wasn't available in 1968 F100's).

Is a shame no one has one of these brackets laying around.

I am thinking I have a daunting task ahead of me finding one of these.

Well, turns out I was almost right. As far as the daunting task went, I stopped in at the junkyard this morning, and after almost 10 whole minutes I had found 3 older fords with the exact bracket pictured in the diagram Bill posted up above.

So, looking to see which would take less work to remove, I spent almost another 15 whole minutes removing everything and was on my way home.

Didn't even have to leave the first row of trucks, just a lucky morning. So thanks all to all who posted and PM'ed, and especially to Bill for posting the diagram, so I would know exactly what I was looking for.

BTW, if anyone was interested, both main parts of the bracket, plus the tensioner and brace, are now mine for the exorbitant price of $7.50....was last day of 4 day 50% off weekend.
