New guy here

Not sure where to do the intro so here it is...1968 F100 step side, 240 3 speed on tree, 130k original miles, rust free CA truck. New truck to me but nothing is new to me!

Looking for a rebuilt RAN.
Best bolt in aftermarket AC.
Correct radiator for running AC.

I'm in Napa, CA

Not sure what a RAN is?
Old Air Products and Classic Auto Air are good starts
Radiator really doesn't matter as long as its big I guess. The condenser is really more important for a/c

RAN is the 3.03 3 speed trans in the 68's.

Looking for a rebuilt RAN / Correct radiator for running AC
Welcome to FTE

The RAN is the 6 cylinder version of the Ford type 3.03 3 speed manual all syncromesh transmission. The RAT is the V8 version.

This trans was introduced in 1963, used thru 1980 in misc Passenger Cars, 1966/77 Bronco's, thru 1986 in F100/150's & Econolines. Most of the RAN/RAT internal parts are the same.

This is a simple trans to rebuild, NAPA and etc. auto parts stores will have all the parts that usually need to be replaced.

RAN/RAT: Gasket set, small parts kit (snap rings & washers), front & rear ball bearings. 1st gear syncro brass blocker ring (1) and 3 shoes. 2nd/3rd gear syncro brass blocker rings (2) and 3 shoes.

15 needle bearings for the input shaft, 30 needle bearings for the counter shaft (same: 15 front/15 rear), front and rear seals.

The '2 row' standard cooling radiator can be converted to the A/C '3 row' radiator by having it recored. Attempting to locate a 6 cylinder A/C radiator will be difficult.

I can see why you'd want A/C living in Napa Valley. Over the past week here in LA LA Land, the temps have ranged from the 90's to well over 100. Unusual weather for this time of the year.

I found a rebuilt RAN out of a Bronco and assume its same except for the adapter. Yes? No?
My radiator is the very small one that is only about 18x18. I have figured out what I need is the bigger one about 26" wide. I will have to cut my radiator support to fit as it seems the V-8's (and the 6's with AC) used a different radiator support.
Thanks for any help!

Incorrect.
Bronco RAN: 1966/72 170 I-6 & 1973/74 200 I-6 / 1968 F100: 114" wheelbase (6 1/2' Flareside/Styleside beds): RAN-E1 / 131" wheelbase (8' Flareside/Styleside beds): RAN-F1 or G1

Depending on which Bronco 170 or 200 I-6 RAN trans case it has, it might work w/the 240 I-6, might not.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1967/72 F100/350's with the Super Cooling radiator (has a HUGE top tank) use a different radiator support (has a larger opening radius) than the standard/xtra cooling and A/C radiators.

As original: F100/250 240/300 I-6's & F350 240/300 I-6's with SRW's were not available with the Super Cooling Radiator.

Only 240/300 I-6 F350's with DRW were available with the Super Cooling radiator.

Super Cooling radiator: 26 1/4" wide x 24 1/4" high / Xtra Cooling & A/C radiators: 26 1/4" wide x 19 3/4" high / 240 I-6 standard cooling radiator: 18 7/16" wide x 18 3/8" high.

The Super Cooling radiator fan shroud is also different than the Xtra Cooling & A/C radiator fan shroud.
