460 hi-flow cats

Anyone have part numbers for hi-flow cats they have used? I need to pass an emissions test, but aftermarket cats are acceptable.
I searched but no part numbers and threads from 15 years ago with discontinued parts listed in them are not of any use.
Not sure how "hi-flow" it is, but I'm thinking this one looks better than the stock one(walker 15103): WALKER® EXHAUST SYSTEMS :: E-Catalog Lookup

I used a Magnaflow 59929 when I rebuilt the exhaust on my old 1992 F350 w/5.8L engine and Bassani y-pipe.

Any aftermarket cat you buy will be "high flow" compared to the stock cat and since you have emissions to pass I'd suggest you not get one that is purpose built to be hi-flow because it won't be as effective at cleaning up the exhaust gasses. The cermaic core cats are the cheapest to buy but they won't last.. you may get a year or so out of them before they start to fall apart, the spun metal cats are more $$ but you will never need to replace it.

Conanski, I only plan on using the cat one day every two years and replacing it with a straight pipe the other 729 days.

Any aftermarket cat will work just fine. As for removing and installing for the test. That is plain silly. You don't own a race car. You will notice zero different in performance with it or without

It wasn't for performance reasons. It's because aftermarket cats have a short lifespan and I don't want to buy one every couple years.

I agree with Brad on this one. A good quality aftermarket converter is not a fuse, it will last IF your truck is in a good state of tune. A short life may be caused by a lean or overly rich condition. Playing musical chairs with the converter is a band-aid fix.

While this may be true of the spun metal ones, the ceramic cats don't last (see Conanski's post).
I have yet to find anything but ceramic cats rated for 7.5L (or larger) engines. 6.2L seems to be the cut off. The one you used is rated for 6.2L (which is plenty for a 5.8L)
A truck running rich wouldn't pass the sniff tester good cat or otherwise.
So for 20 min of hassle every couple years it isn't a big deal.

You use the term "cats", are you using a single or dual? If the latter I see no reason why the Magnaflow 59929 would not work. For that matter I think Magnaflow is hedging a bit on the ratings. Just my humble opinion.

If you want to break the bank then take a look at 55300....

Depends on your testers and how / if they do "visual", EPA, CA (CARB)........sounds like you are preOBD2 with the sniffer........what year is the setup?

Keep in mind the stock 460 cat has an air injection line that goes into the top of it.

Yeah, cat in original posted has two injection tubes like the original one that the truck has (though on the side rather than the top).

No visual inspection here. It's just the tailpipe probe doing a two speed idle test.
The tuck is an '89.
