I was replacing the oil seal in the pinion support retainer over the weekend and managed to crack and break off a couple pieces where the seal presses in. I now need to find a new or good used one. My truck is a 78 F150 4x4. Are these 9" retainer plates all the same in 2WD's, 4WD's and cars? Or do I need to look for a certain one?

What are you referring to, 4614? If so, there are TWO different types.
Look at approx. 5 o'clock under one of the bolts that retains the carrier to the housing for the rear axle tag. Post the code stamped on it.
