It could just be an old code. Or just enough resistance in the circuit to throw a code. Is there a slight intermittent miss? Check the connections on both inside and outside of the valve cover gasket.
You can throw codes without setting off the SES light. If it is a slight miss then it is most likely the UVCH. The connectors are notorious for wearing out and not keeping a tight connection. I suspect that is your problem.
