2006 Ford F-250. 6.0L. Driving down the interstate and truck just shuts down. Had it towed to the ford dealership where they told me the oil cooler is stopped up, the egr cooler is leaking, and the oil cooler screen has come apart and caused damage to the ipr screen which shut the truck down. Didnt have the funds for the full repair so they put in a new ipr to get me home. Well the truck made it in the driveway about 100 miles later and hasnt started since. Code is P2-291 low injector control pressure. I removed the ipr and the screen appears to be undamaged.. What now? High pressure oil pump?
No oil in the degas bottle. I have the turbo off now and plan on doing the oil cooler and egr delete but would also while Im here like to change the HPOP if its bad. Is there anyway to test it? Could the oil cooler screen also have damaged the HPOP?
I am kind of in the same condition. I believe my IPR is bad and I asked about the ability to test the HPOP when the truck is in this condition (I am also looking at the turbo on the shop floor) on another thread.
Im almost sure my IPR is ok as its new. I scanned the truck before I starting tearing it down and it showed only about 250 lbs of fuel pressure when cranking the engine but when I unplugged the ICP the fuel pressure shot up to normal. Does this show the HPOP is working?
Did the truck start when you unplugged the ICP? If the pressure went up to normal it sounds like the ICP is bad. Truck should go to a default value and start if the ICP is unplugged if everything else is OK.
When I removed, cleaned, and re-installed my Injector Control Valve, my truck started right up.
Chances are it's not your HPOP, but the STC fitting on the HPOP. Pretty common on an 06 truck. Sounds like a good time to do all the repairs that you need to fix it--EGR cooler, oil cooler, and STC fitting--since you have to remove a lot of similar parts to repair them all
