Hey guys, so I just bought a 1996 Ford F150 Regular Cab with an 8' Bed. Now, the temp gauge doesn't work, so after some research and checking the cluster, I have come to find out that the coolant temperature "switch" or sender, whatever the hell it is, is shot. I picked up a new one at autozone, and now I have no idea where the sucker goes. Does anyone know where it is placed? Pictures or a detailed description would really help! I'm 18 but I've never worked on vehicles before so I'm new at all this!
Well it would help if we knew what engine was in your truck. Dunno where it is on the 300, but if you got a 302 or 351 then it's on the driver side next to one of the fuel injectors and has ONE wire going to it.
There is another one closer to the front of the engine with two wires on it, that's for the computer and not the one you want to replace.

Thanks for all your help guys! I found it, used an 11/16 deep throat socket and unscrewed it (a little coolant leaked out) then I screwed the new one in and mounted the lead, then the wire in the lead. The temp gauge works just fine now, since the old one was corroded on the contact.
