Need help coolant temp switch

1995 F150 4x4 5.0-built 10/94- if that helps, I know they had a mid-year change. I cannot locate the "coolant temp switch". The one that talks to the dash gauge. My truck constantly says I'm overheating, even if it sits for a couple of days and I only turn the key in the in position without starting it. I found the "coolant temp sensor" that communicates with the computer for emissions. When that is unplugged my gauge doesn't change. The autozone website shows me a pic of the switch but I still can't locate it. I know I'm not actually overheating but the hot weather we've been experiencing I'd hate to not trust my gauge and actually overheat. Please help

The sensor is right in front of #5 injector in the lower intake.. very front drivers side. The sensor is about the size of a dime and there is a stud sticking out the top that a single wire connects to.

Thank Conanski. I did find it and unplugged it to check. Now my gauge never goes below the "O" in normal. Now it think its the gauge itself
