New to me

Just picked up a 2012 K-Z Durango 295CS 5th wheel. It has 3 slides, 2 opposing in the living area and 1 in the master bedroom.

Coming from a 28 ft tt to the 31ft 5th wheel I can say my first trip out was the most comfortable tow I have had in the 8 years I have been camping. The only hiccup I had was my slide hitch did lock in the tow position and the camper slid back in the bed when I pulled away from a red light. Got that figured out now.

Did it leave any blemishes? Here's mine (previously shown).

No damage at all. I guess I was lucky because I was going straight. The camper stayed in the hitch. It just slid to the back of the trucks on the rails. I was on the fence on whether to get a slider or not for my short bed. A friend of mine said he had a hithc he wasn't using anymore. All I had to do is pick it up. Turned out to be 14k Reese slider. I like free stuff.

Talk about a great freebie. Any more around?

I felt bad about it being given to me that I bought a gift card to Texas Roadhouse resturant. Not bad for $40. Nice to have a network

Nice looking rig!

Army - not sure your issue was the same as his. Yours came off the hitch and it sounds like the slide lock on DeFyr's rig didn't catch and lock in the tow position...
I believe you replaced that truck - right Army?

--edit-- I see now that DeFyr clarified... Sorry 'bout dat!

Ooops, you're correct: I thought he was saying it didn't lock to the hitch but upon rereading he wasn't locked in to the travel position and so it simply slide to the "turning" position.

I too have had occasional trouble getting mine to lock - both forward and/or rearward. My installer says it's because my yard parking spot is not level side to side. IE: I level the 5th wheel but not the truck = a difference of happiness.

Yes I did upgrade the TV, I needed a larger cab and wanted a larger bed. Plus I feel better with a much newer one (02 vs 14).

Congrats...I had a slider in my last truck and I seem to recall it sliding when I didn't ask it too.

It was my fault for not locking it in.

One of the things I'm not used to yet is only having 1 water fill opposed to having a tank fill and a city water inlet. Just getting used to what valves need to be on/off to fill tank or run off city water.

Just need more practice. Will get that this weekend.
