Ive had this noise for A while now and I cant seem to find the source of it. earlier today I wanted to make sure it wasn't the serpentine belt so I changed the serpentine belt, tensioner, and idler pulley and then when i tested it out the noise was still there. The noise occurs around 1800 rpms until about 2000 rpms and then goes away until 2900+ rpms where it gradually gets worse as you accelerate. it makes it difficult to drive on the highway because around 70-80 mph the noise is constant and doesn't stop until i go under 70 mph. I dont like it when it makes this noise because feel like im damaging something which im trying to avoid because i have other projects that id rather dump money into.
In the video the truck was warm and i was accelerating from about 5mpg to 30mph. you can hear in the video a short sound from about 1800-1900 rpms and then you begin to hear it better from 2900+ rpms. there was no trailer behind the truck and i was accelerating on a flat surface. The truck is pretty much stock except for A aeroturbine 3535xl muffler in place of the stock muffler and a airaid intake. the truck also had 137,000 miles if thats any help.
Build a boost leak detector. Check out FTE member Trey Spooner's youtube video on how to build one.
You can probably just tighten the clamps below the spider/5-way plenum and make the noise go away, but it won't seal perfect again until you remove the boots and thoroughly clean them and the mating surfaces SQUEAKY clean. I use brake clean and a white rag for final clean.
