This was a funny and interesting thread; then it seem to take a turn down serious lane when it came to lifted trucks. Thats okay, everyone is allowed to have a strong feeling on anything they want. There is a concrete company not too far from where I work and I see their rigs running up and down the Interstate, usually running around 75 to keep up with the traffic. A lot of their fleet includes some really tall "off road" looking mixers that have a bumper height much higher than say my F-250 with its 6" lift. I steer way clear of those machines. This picture was just taken off the net and is not one that belongs to this local company I am talking about.
How about that bumper height?
On a lighter note and back to real crazy stuff... Have ya'll seen these?
They call 'em pokes! and apparently they started here in Houston.
I tool a picture of a caddy in mobile with a set of those dumb things(must have deleted it).. I wanted to ease over and knock those stupid things off lol..
It's not the lift kit thats so bad, it's when its not done right or is excessive that becomes unsafe. I've seen trucks that leaned so bad in turns that the cab is almost in the next lane, scarry when the truck is only going 20 mph. Mostly its when the driver decides to create his own entrance/exit to the parking lot and people have to scatter to avoid getting hit and the driver is either laughing or yelling at people to get the **** out of the way that pees me off. That and the ahole who drove down our front yards the fitst week of january 3 years in a row. It was his birthday and he was celebrating. That was more of a drunk driver issue, another one our Criminal Protection Service didn't charge.
I remember when the teacher would put those pokey things on a kids head and made them sit in a corner, there usually was a D on top of it. Sorry JD but I got the belt not the hat. Lol
Shortly after we moved to N AL from FL if I recall correctly FL passed a law saying you couldn't have such things hanging from your bumper. You can get pulled over and written a ticket for anything other than stock or trailer towing ie towing harness or chain links for safety chain hookup...
Does that include the stupid rubber "*******" that I see here pretty often?
Well I guess im kinda one of these idiots. I have a set of HID headlights in my 2000 Silverado 1500 and absolutely love em. I also have a relay so that the low beams stay on when the high beams are on. The low beams are very little brighter than stock, just a whiter light. but I realize that when my high beams are on, they are unreal bright. So therefore you wont see me in town or in heavy traffic with my high beams on. I only use them on lighly traveled back roads, and ALWAYS dim em when I see somebody coming. (By the way my high beams have saved me from more than one animal collision on a dark night...)
KIKKUP - The Chronicle had an article on those wheels - they are real popular among a certain set (you see a bunch around Greenspoint if you get my drift) and the story is that if you have a set, you carry a gun ALL THE TIME or you're gonna get jacked. Or worse. At least it lets you identify gangbangers from hundreds of yards away.
what aggravates me now is that all these "cool" kids now that are mounting the bar light right at the top of the windshield. Some of them think its neat to run em on the road. the thing is, its an off road light, and you cant make me believe that these kids running tahoes and explorers etc. with street tires are doing much more off road than their driveway....

Thank you for the consideracy with the HID's! These jack offs around here run them in the fog lights and its lately become cool to put them in the 4 wheelers.........
I know the led light bars you speak of, they look like a little princess crown on the windshield!

What, you got the axle to stop you, as it rolls over you like our trucks roll over a pop can... ouch
I remember a time when I was living in Alberta. We were on our way to Edmonton (we lived in Hinton just outside of Jasper) and hit a road block. I had a new Dodge PU at the time. I had put some of those smoked plastic headlight covers on it. I was told to take them off.
The trucks I drive are like that mixer. Here's some examples.
Wanna talk about bumper height on new trucks? Lol. And still idiots cut me off. Scared the crap out of two people sitting in the bed of a pickup yesterday when the driver cut me off while I was delivering a mixer. Wish I had a pic if their faces as they were looking eye level with my front hooks
Not much of that crap around here, kids are into lowering civics, excessive camber, "stance" and stretching tires onto rims that are too wide. You're deemed a "hater" if you disagree with it, can't wait for this fad to die.
Ive had my fill of this. Im 22 and cant stand this nonsense. You see these everywhere in so cal. And to top it off they think they drive a race car......
I had some Honda kid with a car just like the above tell me to trade in my car for a rear "racecar"...
I drive this... built for road courses. I hate my generation.... America needs help
