Electrically stumped - please help!

You know what? I haven't put the steering wheel back on. I just put the turn indicator lever on so it would operate, but the speed control wires haven't been re-attached. If that's the problem I'll know in the morning.

There is no power at the flasher base. I know that the wire colors on the original turn indicator switch are different than the new switch I put in, tho they both have nine wires. I'll work on understanding the wiring diagram vs reality this weekend so I can answer the question about wire colors/diagram.

I knew there was a reason I felt silly sitting in the driver's seat without a steering wheel in front of me. Since that and the horn assembly grounded the turn indicator system I thought that would be the fix for sure, but I put it all back together a couple times. Still no power. I'm back to the wiring diagram, right? And checking to see if there is power to the pins on the connector. That will be the next step unless one of you know another option.
