I have an 87 ranger xlt, 2.9l v6, 4x4, with the 5 speed manual trans. I live in Arizona and I really only have problems with cooling during the summer when temperatures are over 100 degrees outside. Every part of the cooling system works well it just gets very close to the H mark on the thermostat gauge when im in stop and go traffic and I'm not able to use the a/c cause of it. I'm looking for any suggestions on bigger radiators or electric fans to help with the issue.
The gauge is basically a bracket like this [ , and inside of it it says "norm" and it has a line a little above the bracket that's labeled with a red H. It's basically the overheating mark and my truck rides at the line on the top of the bracket most of the time.

I was being sarcastic. These gauges are notorious for being inaccurate and never give any real info in the first place. Are there any other signs that it's overheating? Running rough? Oil burning smell?
I would put a real gauge on it under the dash, or get one of those infrared guns and shoot the top of the radiator when you think it's overheating.
