89 Ranger Cooling troubles

89 Ranger Cooling troubles
I have a 89 Ranger w/2.3 that never reaches operating temp. I have replaced sending unit, water pump, thermostat, radiator and checked heater core. Temp gauge never reaches lower hash mark and sometimes has heat sometimes not. Can anybody help?

I have a 88 Ranger 2.9L (I believe this correct engine size)with 130,000 miles,anyway it has never gone much above the first line but rarely gets there! I have heard here that they run cool very cool. I hope this helps some.

Try checking your fan clutch to see if it's locked up. I would completely remove the fan and go for a drive and see what it does.
If it warms up unlike usual than look into an electric fan. Flex-a-lite has a kit that bolts right in and looks good to.

89 Ranger Cooling troubles
When I was young (back in the Stone Age), my first job was driving a truck. In the winter We often had to block part of the air flow thru the rad. to get the temp up. We used fiberboard or whatever was laying around. Good Luck.
