Failed to start or do anything with 22K miles. Week previous failure to move at stop sign. Stepped on again OK. WEnt on the hook to servicing/purchasing dealer. PCM? Replaced and so far all is good. Now the trans shifts earlier and will go into 6th at 40 in town driving; never went in until 65 on freeway before. Could the replacement part before newer model 14/15? Or maybe not for a MaxTow with 3.73 gears I have? Is it thinking and finding my driving style. Any ideas..... Thanks
When the dealer installed the PCM it should have been flashed to your VIN. If you are driving unloaded there is no reason it should not go into overdrive at 40mph. There could have been a software update to the programming that was done when they flashed the new PCM
I don't see that as abnormal.
I have a 2013 ecoboost 4x4 3.73
there is a hill by where I work, ill have the cruise on. going about 40, up the hill it will stay in 6th, and not even blink. I will say the slightest headwind, or me pressing in the pedal at all will cause it to downshift.
I do believe it will need to re-learn a bit after that PCM replacement. I would give it 500 or so miles and see if behavior changes.
My truck does shift into 6th at 40 mph as well. They changed the PCM parameters when they were having all the CAC issues. It also helps save on fuel in town.
