Diesel Brad

Where did you use frame steel? It looks like you just used part of another frame. How did you remove the flanges without over heating it?

Thanks for the idea as I need to fix the frame on my truck!

Yes, I used another frame, just like I said.

I cut the flanges off just like I said

Brad, wires and lines routed inside the frame seem simple to pull away so the frame plate can be slid behind them. The spring and shackle mounts need to be unrivited and frame mounted side steps removed. What else needs to be done to be able to do this in the driveway?

The inner crossmember braces had to be removed as well.

I used a jig saw to cut the frame

Did you have any problems with misalignment caused by the frame being 1/2" wider (two times the 1/4" frame/plate thickness) at the crossmember braces?

That's pretty sweet Dieselbrad, bad *** actually. I have a CCLB now that I used for parts to build up my CCSB. Would love to do this with the other frame!

Looking for a frame crossmember if anyone is cutting their frame up. Ideally it would be for the rear cab as it has brackets that support the bottom part of the frame too.

I have one but I am sure shipping would make it not worth while

I want to replace the rear U joints and the rubber around the mid shaft carrier bearing is rather torn. Maybe it is contributing to the shacking?

So I locked in the front hubs and removed the rear drive shaft and went for a drive. Other than some front wheel drive quirkiness in tight turns there was basically no change in the shaking at about 65 mph.

I wonder if there is a frame stiffening that is a little less than Brad's badassery level of full plating.
