55 gas tank bung problem

55 gas tank bung problem
I purchased a new tank from the truck shop. It is a copy of the original side tank I'm trying to find what the the size and thread for the bung that connects to the pickup tube on the tank. the one on my original tank was welded on to the tank and after a few trips to the parts store I thought I would see if anyone here has some thoughts on the matter.

It's the same part number for the connector going from the fuel pump to the carb, I think.

Thanks for the welcome.
I got mine fixed.
the thread for mine was 1/8 fine pipe thread. the fitting was tapered for pipe fittings.
not staight.

Can you post a pic of it for reference? Since I can't find a picture of it in the parts catalog, it might help someone else down the road.

This looks like a 3/8 opening, but I'm not sure. There isn't enough clearance for me to measure it.
This is the fitting that is supposed to thread into the tank??
Here is what I have going on. I tried to rig up something to work off of the tank, but I want to put it back the way it should be.
