I have seen a few 6.0 with a screen on their dash never up close but on the road that gives out the readings off different temps like oil and water and Boost and some I think allow you to adjust for highway mileage and towing and such and I have seen people touching them to change settings like a Garman (:. Just wanted to gather some info on them as to good units or not so good from guys here . And I'm assuming they somehow connect or plug into the OBD11 system ? I think I want to add one for at least monitoring the systems temperature difference's between oil and coolant.
There are tuners that also read live data from the engine, and then some devices that just read live data, like the Torque Pro app (with a bluetooth OBD2 reader). You need an android device to run Torque Pro.
Thanks for the link to that info I read it and I think its the edge or one like that I have seen . I ran along side a few people at night who had screens on their dashes I could see with different information displayed about the size of my Garman like 4x6" I seldom tow or haul but I do run highway often and I like the idea I can keep any eye on oil and coolant temps and true boost and such. I like the screen to set there I have several tablets and phones for the blue tooth and wifi . like I used when the GPS 1st really got big . Again thanks for all the info guy I appreciate it.. Now I know how too look for the device
Thanks Ultra that's what I was thinking about that edge was not sure as too what model now I know those pillar gauges what do yours monitor ? I want to add them also at some point not sure what ones to add or how many..
The top gauge is Trans Temp...Kinda pointless IMO as it never really gets above 165 even when towing. Some day I plan to put a fuel pressure gauge in. Plus the Edge has the ability to monitor it.
Middle is mechanical boost gauge
On the Edge I display coolant temp, oil temp, EGT temp, transmission gear, Mileage coach(which display current and average mileage) and VGT position.
Yes that's about what all I wanted t keep an eye on was mainly coolant and oil temps but I'd set mine up like you have yours ,, But since it does all these coolant temp, oil temp, EGT temp, transmission gear, Mileage coach(which display current and average mileage) and VGT position. Is about how I'd set mine up
Oh one more question does the unit need to be programmed or its it ready out the box ? Not great with computer stuff LOL on off send is about all I can get done .. I have heard or read something saying some need to be programmed
The new edge cts 2 can monitor 9 pid's at once. I currently run and edge cts and love it. It's a easy clean install. It can get a bit expensive for the cts then the eas starter kit and other add ons but it can't get much cleaner and it's extremely easy. I run the egt and fuel pressure with mind as add ons. The cts is plug and play.
I have a 1st gen I-pad and a new Samsung Something or another ? It the newest from Samsung My daughter gave it too me for Xmas last Dec. Both of mine are ? 10" or so I'd guess never measured them but a little large for the dash .. Hell when I go home now state troopers will pull you for a Garmman GPS on the dash thinking its a radar detector LOL
I gave the trooper some backtalk about pulling me and all then the SPB wrote me up for it being in my field of vision LOL had to go to court and beat it but a PITA Va. state troopers are hard core LOL
They will write you up for a tie or anything hanging from the rear view ..or to dark tinting or bumpers to high from a lift kit .. I would like one of those in dash things myself
Thanks for the pics and info I'm new to personal diesels but I luv this one so fare LOL
