Hello my name is Ryan and I bought a 2000 super duty extended cab with the 5.4 gas engine manual Trans and I love this truck ... I got a great deal on it and have had to do fuel injectors coil packs brake work and put a new windshield in it to get her in dece condition and I drove her for about a month before my hub assembly went out on me , now I replaced the hub assembly but my universal joints are still hitting the bolts on the knuckle every time I use the clutch to shift so obviously those need replacing but what I'm looking for is a good diagram of the front axel so I can replace all bearings and seals when I went in to do the hub assembly it was clear to me that the previous owner was a hack so I can't take it apart and be confident that it's right as a reference thanks for reading guys
So you need to be more exact in your describing what is hitting what. The clutch has nothing to do with the front end at all. esp if you are in 2wd. You said you replaced what?
I'm guessing the front bearing assembly? Maybe there is no front seal in there behind the bearing...let me find a link that might help. Let us know because there is no connection to the front end with the clutch.

I understand the clutch has nothing to do with the front end but when I engage the clutch the u joints on the outer front shafts are released from tension then they bind up or hit the nut hanging down where the front tires pivot when turning sorry if my description sucks and thanks for your help
Only in 4wd....change the ujoints and check the needle bearings in the back of the bearing assembly. In other words pull the whole damn thing apart and replace whats worn..way too much play in there...
We understand that not everyone has the gift of being able to intimately describe mechanical function. Your description doesn't make sense to us mechanical people. Dont take offence as were here not to insult but to help. Since verbal description here isn't effective please try to take a picture or three and post. You either have a one off problem or somethings really wrong because what you describe doesn't compute being familiar with these trucks.
