Finding "switched power" source?
Hey has any one tried one of these plugs? you can run a power wire outside the wiring harness so you don't need to leave the key on to power acc. in a trailer or what have you. It is reversed engineered to work seamlessly with the round seven plug.

I installed an aftermarket radio in my 99 F250 SD and used the Scosche wiring kit with all the extra plugs for many different Ford vehicles. All the plugs are already wired together, they have block off plates to keep the pin end "closed" when not using that type plug.
Since all I needed/wanted was a switched power source to turn off my driving lights with the key, I very simply stuck a spade connector female on the switched power wire for the stereo and ran it through a relay to power the lights. Works great.
There is supposed to be a white/blue wire in the blunt cut bundle under drivers side dash.
It's even printed on the wire bundle tag as WH-BU RUN/ACC
But there is no white with blue stripe wire!
This would be the ideal place to tap into a "switch on" power source.
I've checked for power on several of the larger 18 gauge wires for power and no joy.
I used this to power a Garmin GPS plus a monitor for a wifi travel trailer rear camera and it works as I hoped. On with key on only. It is a smallish wire so doubt it could handle a huge load, but my two gadgets combined was only 2.1 amps.
Anyway, if you cant find this wh/bu wire like the fellow above... look under the label for the end.
