Heres what ive done in the past few months.
Newly rebuilt 390 dropped in
Complete american auto wire wiring harness
MSD Ready to Run Distributor
MSD 6A PN6201 Ignition Box
everything is wired correctly ive called MSD and American Autowire
the issue is i picked up an ignition box off a friend and went to crank the truck it fired for half a second and then died. CHecked the box and it was dead i figured the box was malfunctioned so i bought a new one from advanced and the same thing happened again.
The fuses in the key switch are not blown i have new coil and new solenoid. in the diagrams supplied there is no mention of a ballast resistor or a voltage regulator.
If anyone has any information that would be really helpful
For reference check your wiring to what my set up is as I have nearly the identical setup you have with my 460. The numbers are from the Painless Wire Kit I used. My distributor is the Summit ready to run and is just exactly like the MSD version. I hope this will help you.
I have a similar set up on mine and for years I had a lot of problems with the truck randomly shutting off. The problem was traced down to faulty wire connections (poor soldering & half-*** crimps) on the ground side. even after I found the problem I had issues until I used more of a commercial grade wire connectors.
I would say check all of your connections very closely.

The Black and yellow wire that goes into the 70 amp fuse what is that wire i dont have a black and yellow wire
Sorry for the late response, been Bailing Hay today. The #916 wire is the Battery Source which connects to the Starter Solenoid (Maxi Fuse) "B+" side, it is a 10 gauge wire. Someone correct me if wrong but I believe this provides power to the fuse box.
Also, I used the diagram on Page 44 of the MSD book for the ready to run. If I tried to include it in the diagram, it would have garbled and made it confusing.
