deer hit repair - what lights do I want?

The 2000 F350 DRW has another kill, this one put some cracks in one headlamp reflector, broke up a turn/ side marker.

I recall people putting in newer reflectors/ marker combos. Do I want ford parts or are the aftermarket light assemblies on ebay worth installinng?

I really am not stuck on any look but I want lights that work......

Since you said "another kill, this one put some cracks in..." it sounds like you hit deer as a matter of routine. If that's the case, it seems like you wouldn't want to invest too much money into headlights, as your next deer is not too far away.

Any headlight with DOT and SAE ratings of approval should work fine. I'd just hit your local craigslist for a set of take offs from someone who updated their headlights with a newer design. And while you're at it, you might pick up a couple of pairs, and keep a few in the back of the truck, along with a barbeque or a smoker.

i bought the OEM ford ones from Riffraff. Look good and fit good. Light much better than the original sealed beams the truck came with and the 01 composite headlamps I installed years later.

I put set from the link above in my run around car (crown vic) and while i can see better, it does not really focus the light that well for that set. But its just a run around car so I do not go far in it usually.

If you can find a pair of 03-04 OEM lights, they're super clear (won't cloud).
If you want much better light output (better reflector), go with the 05-07 light housings. But with those you'll have some modifying to do.
I'd stick with OEM 'cause there's no doubts about water intrusion, yellowing, etc.
Craigslist or someone here who's done the newer light style can save you big $. Good luck!

This thread is what I am going with. I like the lights on my 2002 excursion better than the F350, so ordering a set from rock auto... we'll see how they stand up.
This truck has hit several deer in its life, most hit the bumper with no light damage, but this one cracked the grill, broke the ford oval off the grill, busted up a park lamp, and the headlamp assemblies are just cloudy and **** me off.
I may have to call the ford dealer for the blue oval, or just make something myself when parts arrive....

I recommend a relay harness and HELLA 100/80 watt bulbs for ultimate lighting without annoying other drivers.

I've gotten these items from Rally Lights, Hella, TerraTrip, Hans, WRC, ZAMP for years. They make the harnesses in house with the best materials.
