I posted this in the Superduty section and didn't get a single response. I'm looking to replace my stock headlight assemblies and bulbs on my 2001 F350. Just looking for some advice on what's good and what to stay away from?
Not sure on whats good as I am still running stock with just some regular old headlights, but I am considering going to the 02-04 style headlight and putting in LED bulbs from lifetimeledlights.com. Guys over on the 6.0 forum have been giving good reviews of their lights.
This is what I bought, I see they are unavailable now, but I think they were listed on Ebay too.
They installed great, look great and I would get them again. I only wanted a cleaner/fresher look for the truck due to the old ones being hazy looking.
Quick and easy is the 02-04 OEM housings (because the lens stays clear/ doesn't cloud like the older ones).
I had them, but elected to go with OEM 05-07 housings (just 'cause I liked the look). To my surprise, the light output is FANTASTIC compared to the earlier style. The combination of reflector/lens/bulb is really great, and being OEM, they don't leak or fog up.

Good to hear. I have a set of 05 lights in the garage waiting for me to install them. Did you get an 05 header panel or did you cut yours? A new header panel was not in the budget for the upgrade so I am planning on setting aside at least 1/2 day so I can take my time.
I just cut mine- took about 2 hours with a diamond Dremel cutter. If you have bigger saws, it'll go faster. Check the tech stickys for hints and pics...
You'll need an adapter pigtail (or replace the connector) for the different bulbs too. You'll love 'em!

Thanks, Kevin
While you are making your decision, spend $2 on a small can of Deep Woods Off w/ Deet. Spray it on, wipe it off x3....takes about 1 min per light and you'll be amazed at the difference it makes with the old lens.
The best light you can get is from '02-04 lenses with relay harness and 100/80watt bulbs. More usable light than any retro HID and without annoying other drivers.
'05-07 lenses use crappy H13 bulbs and frankly the optics just aren't as good. Besides, it makes the truck look like a 6.oh. I prefer the 'heritage' of the 7.3 lenses.
I've been buying and recommending harnesses and bulbs (HELLA or Optilux) from www.rallylights.com for years. They build the high quality harnesses from the best parts available. Right here in the USA - and ya get to speak to a real American if you ever need to call.
