I have a 74' ford bronco that I want to paint in the near future I was wondering how much it would be or in the ball park at least. I still need to get some body work done and some other things but I'm just wondering how much it would cost me to paint my bronco, thanks.
It really depends on how good a paint job you're willing to pay for. You can sometimes get a $199 paint job where they won't even wash the dirt off before shooting it. This actually isn't such a bad thing IF you are able to do all of the prep work but don't have a paint booth. Just don't expect to simply drop the Bronco off and pick it up later with a good paint job.
On the other hand you can also find a place that'll take your truck and 2 - 3 weeks later you'll have a show quality paint job... and your wallet will be $10,000 lighter.
About 10 years ago I had my Bronco painted for a little over $2000. They did all the prep and the paint job was pretty good. Not so good that I'm afraid to take it on trails, but not so bad that people notice.
as low as $500 at one of the nat. chains (on their 'promotional' deals).
Respectfully @ a local body shop - several grand.
We generally do a good job with mig, putty, and pneumatic sanders, some wet paper hand sanding; then put up plastic walls (poly vapor barrier) in the back of the shop @ the window, put in a box fan, spray everything down with water (rid the dust), then spray 2 stage w/hvlp guns, and leave under rented lights to bake... turns out professional-like. Leastways to our eyes (we're not body or insurance men).
On my own - it's a work truck; rattle can or a roller. Never a worry about a scratch or keepin it shinny!!!
