This has probably be asked before but I could not find it with the seach. Soon I will be painting my 89 Bronco. The problem is that my grey top is discolered and faded. It will not look good after the paint job. I seached the net and all I could find were tops from dealers and they want close to $3,000 for them. Does anyone know of an aftermarket company that makes them for less. I thought I saw some at Bronco Graveyard in the past but they do not show them on their site.
I would paint it, and if you really want to get a good look you can sand the top down to a smooth finish before you paint it and then use a hi-gloss paint it will look like it is part of the body. (I have seen a few done that way and i think there was even a post on here about it)
What type of paint? Do you mean a spray can? How much did oyu san it? I would like to do something to mine as well. It's the only thing on my Bronco I don't like.I have found different types of conditioner that will keep it nice for a couple weeks but it is a pain in the A$$ to do it all the time.
I did not sand it, I used a scotch bright pad and scuffed it good and clean. I did not "sand" it because I wanted to leave the surface the same. I did use a good spray can paint and put on about 5 coats.
