ID engine and trans

Any ideas about what this engine and transmission might be? They're in a 64 engine doesn't match door plate its a V8 3 speed and shift is through the floor. Are there places under the grime that I might find information about the engine and transmission? What tubing hacked into the valve covers for? Thanks for your help.

I'm not seeing any pictures in your post. I do see the link to your album. The engine in that truck looks to be a Y-block. Could be 272, 292 or 312 to name a few, but the 292 was one of the stock engines in the 1964 trucks. All I can see of a transmission is that it looks to be a floor shift. Is it auto, 3-speed, 4-speed, 5-speed?

Generally under the grime you can find identifying marks and casting numbers that can at least narrow down what you might have.
