problems with my 96 powerstroke

Hey everyone been coming here for a while first time posting.. so I have 96 7.3 manual trans powersstroke and it's acting funny. I can be driving and then lose all power check engine light comes on. I can let of the pettle for a,few seconds then press back on the pettle the check engine light goes away n runs normal can someone tell me what they think I'm lost thanks

Does the engine die when this happens? Does the tach drop to 0 when it looses power? If so replace the CPS.

Can you monitor the signals coming off the idle validation and throttle position sensors? An out of range may cause those issues

The truck truck stays running and sounds good but the tac drops n I have nothing on the petter in til I let off for a few seconds

Yup, that's sounding like the idle switch is momentarily losing contact. +1 above if you have a device that can monitor that switch. The code(s) associated with the CE light might also still be stored, so a code scan would be in order.
