I have had a 7.3 for many years now and know a little about the motor. I have searched and can't find any issue like this one. I changed my oil this afternoon and when i tried to restart just cranks.
-No smoke out exhaust
-Batteries at 12.2 volts
-Hpop within .25" of top
-Fuel pressure on cranking
-Pcm sends ground and activates GPR
-IPR pluged in
-Check engine flashes for fraction of second when key cycled on (normal)
-No tach movement on cranking
-Oil pressure gauge registers pressure 5 seconds after initial crank
-grey cps
-anti theft blinking while cranking
-tried unplugging icp and cranking (found this odd, normally with the icp unplugged it will trigger a check engine immediately when key is turned to on. This time, it will not throw a check engine at all). Does this sound like a bad pcm??
No tach movement, I would try a new CPS. And charge those batteries or have them tested.
Also, check your IPR connector. I had a no start last fall and mine had the insulation eaten away by oil/fuel leaks, shorting out the wires. I replaced it and all was good.
there isn't enough information to diagnose your engine. I had a running engine, turned it off and it wouldn't restart. There are specific tests and readings that are needed to figure out what the problem is.
Has a new ipr and icp pigtails installed last fall. I have not had a chance to probe the icp to see the voltage readings. I cannot do a buzz test as it was built late 94 and i never had the pcm reflashed to allow obd2 communication so it wont communicate with autoenginuity. Trying to think of another way to check pcm/idm. In the mean time will try a new cps as suggested!
-I removed filter and bypass was intact. It is the staked version but was seated fully.
-I unlocked the doors using the fob so security should be disabled
-ordered cps, should get this afternoon
-oil pressure registers on gauge while cranking within 5 seconds
-all fuses good
-pcm diode good
When the IPR was removed it drains the resivour.
Refill it manually. Check system voltage while cranking. It must be 10.5 or greater while cranking or it won't Starr.
Also unplug ICP and see if it start.
-replaced IPR
-filled hpop, will register pressure on gauge within 3 sec
-no smoke
-tried disarming with key (no difference)
-fuel bowl full, 35psi
-oil full
-batts go to 11.5 volts while cranking
-no rpm on tach
-tried new PCM
-no chip on either pcm
Still no start. So brand new ipr (alliant), new cps (Ford), new pcm, full hpop, good batteries, wait to start light, check engine proves out and no start!
