Wait to start is coming on and energizing the stancor relay i have. It is supplying battery voltage to the plugs, all glow plugs ohm out, none are infinite resistance so they are good. Fuel tanks full.
The no tach movement with new CPS is strange. The PCM has to see 100 rpm before it will start. Check the CPS wiring from the plug back up to the main harness for bad spots. If that all checks out, maybe the anti theft has something to do with it not starting. Is this the first time the anti theft light has blinked when starting the truck?
-Fresh batts
-resistance on cps wires 0.7 ohms
-Vref is going to sensor
-no tach movement
-hpop was full and oil pressure registers in 5 sec
-no smoke out tailpipe
-still have wait to start and glow plugs energizing
-checked continuity across all fuses; good
-checked pcm diode, good (not that it makes a diff)
Tried icp unplugged, no difference
Seems like for whatever reason injectors are not even firing... Confused here!
Cranking rpm I don't know as tach doesn't work, but cranks as fast as my 4.3kW starter on my other 7.3.
-Tried a new computer, no change in tach
-Tried new IDM, no change
-retraced all wires, look good
-icp disconnected
Can somone with a 95 with factory anti theft watch the theft light and see if on crank their anti theft blinks and tach doesn't move? I would really appreciate it!
Found a couple discussions about the anti theft causing a no start, and one about how the light blinks. Is your anti theft factory or aftermarket? They also mention locking and unlocking the door with the key. Try that and see if it resets the anti theft.
Definitely has a factory anti theft module. It has no other modifications so that is good i think.
The theft light behavior is the same regardless of if i used the key to unlock or remote. Theft light turns off completely when unlocked with key or remote. Only when cranking does it blink. When locked it turns on solid for a few seconds then blinks.
Module appears to still work correctly; if i reach through an open window and unlock, horn goes off and only stops with key in ign turned to on.
If truck was rusted and worn out I wouldn't be as worried to get it back running but there is 0 rust. Only has 113,000 on it and even the cab floor underneath and rockers are factory fresh!
Yeah, it is sure odd. It seems the module kills the cps signal based on the lack of tachometer reading especially since the wires for the cps are all good and connected. I just am not able to find any schematics to prove what goes to and from the security module.
I will unplug tomorrow after riding to see if that works. Thanks for the help so far!
