Having an issue where when closing the front passenger door, the dome light blinks and you can hear the relay clicking. Happens in the same spot, just about where the middle door hold open detent catches. I'm thinking it may be the square rod for the detent is rubbing the wire loom inside the door. Does this sound possible?
I tried popping the door jamb boot loose on both sides and moving the wire loom around trying to get it to blink with no success. It's only right in the spot for holding the door open half way.
I know it is not the door switch. I chased that 'door ajar' gremlin last week on the rear passenger door. $12 switch and 90 minutes of work, letting my 16 year old son do it with my guidance.
That does sound possible, and unfortunately the wiring on these doors is tough to get to. It's also possible that when your son reassembled the door the wiring wasn't put back in the right place and caused this issue.
I'd try to find a way to get a better look at the wiring. If it comes down to it, check for continuity at the door ajar switch plug and run a new wire.
