I have trouble with a '92 E150 van stalling out when I push down on the accelerator when stopped. Idles fine, but wants to stall when I give it the gas. What would be the most likely cause I should look for first, without having to take to the shop.
Thanks,

It does this whether hot or cold. The first time it happened was during a cold spell last December (20's along the Gulf coast), but now it does it continually when you give it the gas. Idles fine, but just wants to die when pressing the accelerator. I installed a K&N air filter a year ago, also a second trans cooler, new distributor cap/rotor, wires, and plugs last summer. Has always run well, except I need something with more power for towing our 27 ft travel trailer, plus room for three kids.
My ordinal assumption of the IAC is probably not the culprit.
It seems to have something to with the TPS (Throttle position sensor)
The sensor is located right below the throttle body, on the bottom.
Do you have a digital tester to measure resistance?
I’m fairly confident this is your problem.
Also check the wires coming out of the sensor, are they bare at all?
I removed the air intake and located the throttle sensor. Don't see any bare wires. Looks like the Ford designers put the attachment screw at the bottom with little clearance for removal. I also found a vac connection broken off, don't know if I did the damage while feeling around for the sensor. Replaced vac hose and problem is now worse than before, doesn't idle at all, doesn't want to start unless I push down on accelerator. As long as accelerator is pushed it runs OK. Maybe I should just adjust idle?
