84 4.9 points distributor

Hi everyone I've got a 84 4.9 and the previous owner stuck a points distributor in it. I was reading up on the duraspark conversion but since its not in stock form it changes things a little. I think. Im not really knowlegable on this stuff I mostly tinker with diesels. Could I throw the duraspark parts on the distributor or would it be easier to go grab a junk yard one?

I don't think you can. You can put a Pertronix module in the points dizzy and that will convert it to electronic. If it doesn't have vac advance and you're unsure of the timing curve you might be better off just getting a remanned dizzy for $50 and a Duraspark box for $40. Cost for either is about the same. On the Pertronix Ignitor webpage you can enter the part number stamped on the dizzy and it'll come back with the correct module.
