Hi guys! I am new to this forum and have a question for you. I have a 99 Explorer, V6, X-VIN OHV model SUV. I bought it a few months ago. It had been sitting at a police impound. I immediately began some maintenance. I replaced the plugs, PCV valve, radiator and thermostat. There was rust in the radiator water and a small leak. I did not replace the hoses due to my budget. Well, you all know what happened. A couple of days ago the upper radiator hose burst. It was odd 'cause the gauge never showed the car was over heating but the hose was old so no big deal. I replaced the hose and filled up the radiator. Now it won't start at all. It has always started and ran well. The engine turns over but won't start. Almost like the timing chain is out. I am not, however, hearing a rattle. This car does not have a rotor. Any thoughts as to what might have happened? I am at a complete loss. My other question is can I replace/repair/adjust the timing chain without pulling the engine?
Ok, here is an update. I had a friend crank the engine while I looked and listened closely to the engine. I don't believe this is a timing chain issue. Is there any way to check for spark and fuel pressure without special tools?
