What tune do you use? I want one for a little more fun and better mileage as well.
I use the perf-eco tune from MPT as my daily driver tune. The programmer i use is the SCT X4. If you already have a SCT tuner, i don't think they charge all fhat much for their tunes. If you buy a SCT tuner from them, they include 3 custom tunes for free.
Until i got my custom tunes (takes a couple days AFTER your tuner comes in the mail) i ran the canned "street" tune. The perf-eco tune gives more power than the street tune, but about the same or maybe a bit less than the SCT "performance" tune, but is way less smoky. It smokes about the same or a tad less than "street". They have it set to get great fuel economy for normal driving and go nuts when you punch it. I love the way that tune drives.
Their tow tune works great too. MPT's pretty good with their transmission tuning. I'm not trying to sound like an advertisement here, but i really like the tunes. Their "Bazooka" tune is crazy powerful for having stock injectors, but makes one hell of a smoke show. I only ran that one for a day. Too smoky for my preference.
OK, I figured I should post an update. I have ran a few more tanks of fuel which should have given the truck time to learn the tune and I have began the granny treatment of the skinny pedal (except for a handful of times where I couldn't help myself of course) and have gotten the mpg up to around 14.5. For me with my truck setup(lift, tires, about 1,000 lbs of random accessories), I am happy with that. I wasn't able to do much about weight reduction because every ounce of weight on the truck is usually important for something or another so I just had to go with less passengers. I am rather certain I could get 15mpg consistently if it wasn't for my right foot spasms
