Hey everyone,
Ive got a few questions...(didn't want to have more than one thread for simple questions).
I'm having a really hard time shutting my passenger side door...(you have to slam it hard to shut it all the way)... Has anyone ever had this problem or know if there's a way to fix it? (I put some WD-40 on the striker).
Also one more question... my dash face(not on top) is very scratched... has anyone tried the dash paint? If so can you please put pictures and tell me if it works?
Thank you,
Brayden
I believe the striker is adjustable. Also, make sure the hinges arent worn out.
For the dash, there are several paints you can use. SEM makes a paint called Colorcoat, and LMC sells a similar product called Colorbond. I can't vouch for SEM, as I haven't used it. The LMC one I have used, and its a close match.
I've used the SEM but had it custom blended (color-matched). It's good stuff but you also first need to clean everything REALLY well, and you need good adhesion promoter and a spray gun (I got two from Harbor Failure intended for doing trim work for $12 each).
SEM is good stuff, there may already be a close-enough color available in spray cans; I'd check a local painter's supply store.
Cool, thank you for the info...
I tried to Google the color of my dash top which is green, but no site has that color in a replacement dash top... Do you know of anywhere that sells the green dash top? And yes that's the factory, it's like a dark forest green.
Thanks
on your striker there is a little plastic sleeve that breaks off one way to repair it is cut a peice of old garden hose to fit about 1/2 long then slice it length wise to slip it over the striker then give it a couple wraps of electrical tape or go the junk yard and get a striker that still has the plastic in tact
Cool, thank you for the info...

Wow, never saw a green interior, outside of here. Pics?
As for the dash top, it is not reproduced. NOS from ebay, Craigslist or other online sources, and be prepared to pay $$$. Only dash covers are available otherwise, and I would imagine green is hard to find.

It sounds like it might be Teal, which is what my interior is too. It's not very common, so most of the repro part suppliers don't do it.......but like ctubutis said, the aerosols can be color matched to suit.
Ditto on bert's striker "padding". I thought my door rattle was going to drive me crazy, and they'd never close completely. I used 1/2"x5/8" PVC, also cut lengthwise, and inserted needlenose pliers to act as a spreader; then I was able to snap them onto the strikers. Instant fix --
Make sure to grab the door while it is open and lift it up this will tell you weather your hinges are good or bad any play and the hinges or bushings are worn.
The interior color code is the second character of the BODY code at the bottom of the certification label on the driver's side door jamb, it might help you in coming up with matching paint.
