New 460 build What kinda power do think it will be making?
Hello fellas it has been a while since i been on the forums!! I'm in the middle of a 460 build for my 78 f150. The cam is a comp cams 280h, The specs are 530 lift 230 @.050 lift duration 280 advertised duration 110 degree los with scorpion 1.73 ratio roller rockers. I bought a set or 60669 performer rpm heads 95cc chambers shaved to 92cc the heads are fully ported on the exaust side and port matched and bowl blended on intake side. The comp ratio is at 10.18 to 1 The intake is a port matched performer rpm air gap intake with a 750 hp series double pumper holly. Msd 6al box and blaster 2 coil with re worked dura spark dizy. Im running Full length fender well exit L&L headers and a duel 3" exaust .....

I was running this cam in this engine for a year so far so good!! I'm nor sure if I would want to go more radical I a heavy truck. The performer cam I would think make it more lazy down low. But I'm not sure what are your thoughts??

I would look for something like an extreme energy or 4x4 cam. Those magnum grinds are pretty old school.
I have a 460 in my mustang with slightly cleaned up iron heads, performer rpm intake, mid length headers, 10.5:1, that same 280h and made 355/400 on a dynojet through a c6. I figured 425hp/475tq at the crank. Made good torque everywhere...but you will have a lot more port volume to fill with your head/intake selection. Neither one is what I would pick for a truck engine that is used on the street primarily.
By the way I think I have talked to you at mineral beach a few yrs back.

If i dyno it it will probably be in the truck. Maybe I'll put it on a chassis dyno up at carlisle all truck nats. Kevin down at kmp performance and machine did everything. He's down in west newton.

I have not used them before but have heard good things.
Good luck with your build....I will be at truck nats this year.
There are a few dyno's in the area...mustang and dynojet...I have used both.
Rodeheavers in McClellandtown - mustang dyno and an old-school Ford BBF guy
Wolfpack Speed in Robinson/Carnegie area as well - dynojet
