the 250 did it again

Just got home from a camping trip. Only about 100 miles round trip. This truck just amazes me. The truck actually rides smoother with my 28 foot 5800lb dry weight tt behind it. Oil Temps never got over 210 and the hottest I seen the tranny was around 204. I just feel so much more secure pulling my camper than I did with my f150. The 6.7 is just a nasty engine. I never had to get over half throttle and it never dropped past 4th gear. Just a awesome machine

congrats on the trip. With the 6.7 you will find that traveling farther out from home is doable.

Broaden your horizons.

Yeah the next trip I plan on going further. Still a little new to towing. The only thing I need to do is get a little better with my ford brake controller. I feel like I need to add a little more gain. I have my gain setting on 4 . Where do most of yours have yours set

Happy to hear you're enjoying your truck. We always loved camping and our truck has elevated all aspects of the trip.

I have our trailer brake controller usually set a 6.5. You'll know when it's right.

Gain is hard to pin down. Existing brakes on the trailer and the truck are different from each other and all of us.

The amount of trailer weight is also going to be different. Set it where you are comfortable.

I run 7. But I am well over 15K on my 5er.

I hear you on being impressed. Since the 250 and the SRW 350 are identical we have pretty much the same truck and I'm amazed at how mine does with 44.5 feet and 17-19k behind it. It just doesn't seem like it's working hard enough for the weight I know is there...

I agree with you. I love horse power and torque but I really don't see anyone needing more than this engine puts out. Now in the mountains yeah maybe but I have yet to go threw them yet. I wanna post some pics with my phone but don't have a clue how to do it

The gooseneck has all the load in it and pulling the flat empty! Piece of cake!
The goose is rated for 18k GVW, and prolly around 15 as loaded. The Sooper Dooty shouldnt have to work too hard!

Little job today.....left my little house in the desert......about an hour SE of Vegas....got to Idaho Falls, 710 miles! Just set the cruise and let the Sooper Dooty do its thing! Cruise was set around 68 for the most part; never saw the speedo drop below 65!!! Even going up the hill out of St George! Prolly burned up a little fuel tho!
Just wait till ya try all this on for size

I just bought my first diesel truck and will never own anything else! Awesome power, quiet and great on the road.

Tony, glad your 250 is performing well for you. These are towing machines; they do the job well.
