The cheapest price I could find is 4K for the doors, hood, fenders. I'm going to do it myself for half that at least. It's not a show truck....

I was thinking about the 03/07 front coil conversion. I have never really looked at the 08/10 front end.

One of he biggest benefits I see in doing the coil conversion is improved turning radius.

I have done can swaps in the past. I have always kept the VIN plates that matched the title/frame that I was using. Just driled and re-riveted. I have no idea if this is "legal" but I never had any issue with inspection or at the time of sale. I have swapped cabs in Texas, California and Oregon so I am only experienced with burocracy in those states.

Coil conversion is what I was meaning. The front axle on a coil truck is wider and the disc is wider as well.

I just bought new 16x10 DC-2 rims and tires earlier this year and replaced most everything in my front axle. If I had to buy new rims again my wife would 'excrete a chicken' !!!!!

As much as I would love to do it, I cant afford it right now. This engine swap is expensive enough.

I'm putting the 08 front clip on...Fenders, grill, hood etc....I like the look of it.

Sorry Clem....I decided not to swap in the Cummins...The price they list is just the basic kit, the add on stuff is where they get you. I'm not spending 11-13K on the powerplant swap alone. Maybe one day when I'm rich, but today is not that day.

I picked up a 160K mile 2000 7.3 for 350 bucks. Going to disassemble today and take it to machine shop. The engine still has the original water pump. Guy pulled it years ago when he installed high HP 7.3 and has had it sitting in shop ever since. I fiqured it would be a better core than my 410K engine....Going to pick up the new bed today and cab tomorrow.

Well....Where to start. I bought a cheap 2 ton engine hoist at HF. Had to go back twice, once for no hardware, second time wrong up right support. The bolt holes didn't line up.

The engine stand I bought from NAPA. While it was made in China, it went right together without a problem.

Drove all over Gods green earth looking for bolts to mount it to the stand, finally get home and it starts to storm...Needless to say, engine is still in the truck. I'm having one of those days....

I had at least one of those days before....

Looking forward to seeing your project!! Feel free to gimme a shout if you have any questions/issues.

Just thinking about all the threads with engine removals, etc these days. I guess it shows our trucks' age. When I got on these boards, we talked about stuff like whether Cackle actually existed and did things like zoodad, 10k mod and even TAG. There were no T4 kits, aftermarket HPOP's or hybrid injectors and 'custom tuning' was tricking the PCM into thinking it was -20* outside and boosting transmission line pressure so we got BANGING shifts...

HF is a love hate place.

Good find on the box w/ tailgate. I'm assuming bumper too.

Sorry about the lack of pics....This is tough to do on your own. The engine I picked up had broken bolts in the exhaust side...The PO tried to drill and screwed it up. I didn't see it when I bought them. Buyer beware. Got my heads off and sending them to shop. Old cab and bed off, new bed and rear half of frame painted and new bed installed. Stripped out cab down and interior in living room. Isnt my wife happy? I'm sending my injectors out to get flow checked and new orings.
